Power Service Solutions GmbH has technologies available for the thermal utilization of all types of waste in a rotary kiln and a downstream combustion chamber.
The applications for rotary kiln technology are many and varied:
- Thermal treatment of liquid and gaseous waste materials
- Thermal treatment of contaminated waste materials
- Thermal recycling (e.g. recycling asphalt)
- Incineration of hazardous waste, e.g. from the chemical industry
- Pyrolysis of various fuels, e.g. for the production of biochar
- Mono-incineration of sewage sludge with the possibility of subsequent phosphorus recovery
Depending on the application, the process in the rotary kiln can take place in parallel flow or counter flow condition. Furthermore, the reaction taking place in the rotary kiln can be exothermic or endothermic. For an endothermic reaction (e.g. pyrolysis), it is possible to heat the rotary kiln from the outside.
The design of the rotary kiln dimensions, such as diameter and length, are determined by the flue gas volume and temperature (via combustion and process calculations), as well as the residence time and the filling level of the solids in the rotary kiln.
The integration of a new rotary kiln system into an existing plant system can be challenging and particular attention must be paid to the mechanical and process interfaces as well as the arrangement planning. These are daily tasks for our experienced engineers using bespoke calculation and planning tools.
